The youth are going to hell

So I had kind of an odd moment this morning while I was at work. It was a typical day, the kids were tired so there wasn't a whole lot to do. The floors in the office were just redone so I just had to help move some displaced furniture back into the tiny cube of a room. Aside from that, business as usual. At the end of the shift, all of the kids were walking past me to go to class while I counted them off to be sure no one wandered off or been eaten by badgers or anything. So I get to the mid-teens and Jarhead (one of our usual trouble makers, name changed for protection and all that) walks past me. Just as he passes me through the front door, *POW!* A fist shoots out of the classroom and clobbers Jarhead right in the dome. Just like that. 13, 14, 15, Jarhead, Fist, DEATH! I was shocked. I heard his skull reverberate with the hit, BUT HE JUST KEPT ON WALKING. It was like a cool breeze had just rippled over his ear, no to be thought twice about. So I stopped the aggressor, another emotional time bomb named Dypstick (again, name changed) to figure out just what the hell went on. I questioned them both and it just turned out they were making fun of eachother... you know... like you do when you're 10-12 years old. But Dypstick somehow thought that he was butt-hurt enough to lay the damn smack down on Jarhead for his transgression. Now, my question to you all after this is: Were kids always this fucked up to eachother? I got beat up once at that age, but the kid was 5 years older than me and a redneck prick, but still. I have had to break up so many fist fights between kids half my size this year that I am starting to lose some grip on reality. I could use some insight on this one.

*Sigh* I weep for the future of "our children." So many kids are fucked up nowadays, but I put a lot of the blame on the parents. I know exactly who Jarhead and Dypstick are, and if you know the parents then you would know exactly why they are the way they are. In the case of Jarhead, he fucks up all the time and receives no repurcussion from his parents for his actions. Everyone else is done dealing with him, so he gets away with a lot of the shit he does. Dypstick has no structure at home. Mom always walks in like she doesn't have a care in the world, she's totally oblivious to everything. You could ask her what color the sky is and she probably wouldn't know. Dad is usually off gallivanting around with women in their twenty-somethings, you can see what kind of picture that paints. To make a long explanation short, parents are fucked up and totally incapable of raising their offspring.

I had a friend a while back who used to work in a West Sacramento daycare. Didn't have time to teach the children or play with them or anything because all she did, literally from the time she arrived to the time she left, was break up fights. Shocking in West Sac, eh?

Also, the one song all the kids wanted to hear all the time, that she got so sick of because she had to play it so often?

Bad Boys by Inner Circle. The Cops theme song. COMEDY.
