Crazy Mini Stuff

James showed me this feature on his new laptop. It can jump from a Mac, to a windows, to another operating system in the blink of an eye, this thing is crazy fast.

The Price is Right

Allright, so I got up a little earlier than normal this morning so I could finish preparing a two-day lesson that I am starting tomorrow. I flicked on the TV to see what was on, and the only thing that was remotely interesting was "The Price is Right." I have been a devoted fan of the show, I used to watch it whenever I stayed home sick from school or during the lazy days of summer. However, there is something about the show that angered me then and still does. You will all have the pleasure of feeling my wrath through the written word.
Anyone who has watched "The Price is Right" knows that the show starts with four random contestants being brought down to the front row, where they will bid on some random item. This also occurs when a new contestant is brought down. Bob Barker always starts with the person on the far left and goes straight across, or with the new contestant and wraps around. This always plays in favor of the last person who is last to bid, and here's why:
The person who is last to bid always gets a general idea of what the item in question is worth, and can bid accordingly. This is all fine and good, until that person bids ONE FUCKING DOLLAR HIGHER THAN SOMEONE ELSE AND WINS THE FUCKING PRIZE!!! WTF!!! This happens because they always take the closest bidder who does not go over the retail price of the item. I feel so angry for the person who got outbid by ONE FUCKING DOLLAR AND LOST!!! This is totally fucked and needs to be changed, but has been a common practice for many years on "The Price is Right." This has always angered me as long as I have watched the show and became enraged when I saw it happen this morning. It made me feel like trying to reach through the TV and punch the contestant, in the FACE!!! I think one guy was about to do it this morning.
I'm really getting worked up now, and it's getting difficult to type properly. So I'm going to leave everybody with that, feel free to respond. I am curious if anyone else is as angry as I am.

SNES Outselling PS3 on Amazon.com!

Found on digg, stolen from gizmondo.

To Quote:

WTF Alert: SNES Outselling PS3 and 360 on Amazon.com

Amidst the usual video game champions on Amazon's Best Sellers List: Video Games, you might find something out of the ordinary. If you head south to around number 17, you'll see what I mean.

It appears that everyone's old video game flame known as the SNES is outselling Sony's Playstation 3 on Amazon.com. Wonder why? Here's my take:

* People aren't that interested in PS3s.
* Virtual Console games are giving people major cases of nostalgia.
* People are so frantic for the Wii that they'll get their hands on the closest thing.
* Someone is throwing a Mario Kart tourney and ordered a metric ton of units.
* Hell has frozen over.

In all seriousness though, this probably has more to do with the fact that there are ten times as many used, yellow-tinted SNES consoles floating around, but still an interesting sight nevertheless. Alexander Yoon

Note: The list has been updated, and the PS3 has dropped to number 20, now behind Guitar Hero II and Oblivion.

Note pt. deux: The SNES/FC Twin monster is on its way to cracking the top ten and is hot on the tails of the Xbox 360. If it gets up there, then we officially live in Upside-Down Land.

Note pt. three: Welcome to Upside-Down Land.

Bad news

I know this is usually a place for light hearted jokes and picking on one another, but I just recieved some news that has shaken me to my core, and I need somewhere to put it. Matt Lucas, the friend of mine from CKM died last friday after an 8 month struggle with cancer. I know that a lot of you guys didn't know him or have a chance to talk to him but believe me when I tell you, with him gone the world is in fact diminished. No one was less deserving of the trials of the last half a year and I'll be damned if he didn't take it all in stride. But that much weight is too much for any soul to bear, and last thursday he talked to his doctor and said he was through, and let nature do the rest.
I feel like shit having not taken the time to stay in contact with Matt or to check in regularly on his carepage at mercygeneral.org, but the end would have been the same, it would have changed nothing, and I still would have lost a friend. I think the point of this rambling is that I do in fact love and care about each and every one of you, and I want it to be out there in the clear so that if anything like this ever happens to any of you, know I will get your back in any way I am able. So please, take care of yourselves and stay in touch with one another. Life is too fucking short for this maddness.
