Thanksgiving Dinner Fantasy Draft
Hey. So I came up with (read: found on this website and stole, I even stole the title and the picture I'm using) this awesome idea. We should totally do a Thanksgiving dinner fantasy draft.
![]()
While it's not exactly my classical thanksgiving dinner, it's a pretty good generic list. So, here are your options...
AVAILABLE DISHES
Meat (pick one): Turkey, turducken, tofurkey. Sauces (pick one): gravy, cranberry sauce, apple sauce. Carbs (pick two): stuffing, mash potatoes, sweet potatoes, sweet potato pie, rolls, cornbread. Veggies (pick two): creamed corn, creamed spinach, brussel sprouts, green bean/broccoli casserole, butternut squash soup, green salad. Desserts (pick two): apple pie, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, vanilla ice cream, cinnamon ice cream, cheesecake. Beverages (pick two): milk, beer, wine
When it's your turn, pick your next item and post it in the comments (give any rational you want). We'll roll to determine the order. Whatever number comes up on your first click is your roll. I (honestly) rolled a 6. Post your roll in the comments, and we can get started.

OK...
My first pick is beer. Look, screw you guys for all the random alcoholic jokes you're already making in your heads... This is insurance against so many things. It insures I won't really care if one of you gets the pecan pie. It insures my family won't be able to ruin the time I have. It insures I don't have to be the one to drive home through thanksgiving traffic.
What's that Aunt Annie? Why haven't I graduated yet? That's a, well, see I had to take a lot of math that... [Sound of me drinking]

I am going to go all classic style and go with Pumpkin Pie. I have always been a huge fan of this cornerstone to the traditional Thanksgiving feast. I am a sucker for all things pumpkin, and i hope you all disagree... that means more pie for me, haha. If Geoff gets to be sauced on beer, I get to pass out from a Pumpkin Pie induced food coma.

I will also go with Apple pie. Some say that if you already have pumpkin, you must go with sweet potato, but that is simply the bastard stepchild of Pumpkin, and once again, I am a traditionalist when it comes to Thanksgiving. Good old American apple pie.

Why haven't you fuckers chosen turkey yet? I don't need to give rationale for this one.

Because Geoff is a Veg face, that's why :-)

Stuffing. Stuffing is almost a meal it's self. And it's as good the next day as it ever was.
P.S. "Pick 2" or "pick 3", i think we can ignore... I've never done a "draft" before (fuck sports) but I think we each pick 1 until everything's gone. Does anyone know how that's suppose to work?

I don't care if Geoff's a "Veg face," that's more turkey for me. And yes, I think we do pick one until it's all gone. This is our own draft, so I think we can make the rules. Sound good?

Sounds good to me. Alright, so I will go with Creamed corn next. I don't know why I am such a sucker for this stuff, but every time I have had it, it has gone really well with the rest of the fare available. I don't care for it solo, but I love it a par of a whole Thanksgiving meal.

Allright, since I was kind of a bastard with the turkey thing, I'll pick up tofurkey for Geoff.

For me? Like your handing me the tofurky? Or, your taking it, so I can't have it. Both options I can believe (you are a good friend and bastard, usually simultaneously). :)
Mashed Potatoes: Suck it. Now I have stuffing AND Mashed potatoes. Which means you all have neither. Enjoy your no-stuffing-or-mashed-potatoes to go with your turkey and creamed corn.
MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Even when I did eat meat, I usually filled up on stuffing and mashed potatoes before I ever made it to turkey. I'm going to enter a pleasant carb-coma immediately after dinner, and then heighten the experience with... another beer.

Ok, I will go with Wine since I haven't picked a beverage yet. Usually I am not a big fan due to lack of exposure or knowledge on the subject, but this year I ad a really amazing red with dinner, and I gotta say I was a fan. You can keep your taters and stuffing, the bird is the core of a true Thanksgiving feast :-)

I am going to take cheesecake. I got turkey and that's all I really cared about. Ice cream and pie are the usual desserts, and I don't typically have cheesecake available for Thanksgiving at my place. Cheesecake is tastee

green bean/broccoli casserole:
It's delicious, and will help cut through my carbs.

Okay, so I asked my brother how the Fantasy Football stuff works. They first determine draft order (order in which people will choose players). They start with the first, go to the last, then go back to the first. In our case, it would go first, second, third, third again, second, first, first again, so on and so forth. We can keep the order, or roll again. After order is determined, they choose players until they fill their roster (I have no idea how many players that would be). We can keep choosing until everything is gone or pick a maximum number of dishes. That's how Fantasy Football works, so we can go with that, or just keep doing what we're doing.

Whatever, I'm just going to fuck up the order anyway. :-)

Sooo... who's turn is it?

I don't particularly care if we start over, but I think if we do then this whole thing will eventually degenerate into seeing who we can screw over the most. Also, you can keep your damn stuffing Geoff, I think the stuff is gross. Although I am willing to trade something for the mashed potatoes. What do you say? Also, it's Will's turn.

Alright, I will take... CHUCK NORRIS! One roundhouse kick and the entire feast is MINE... except the beer. Geoff can keep that. I'm not one to get between a man and his vice.

Hahaha, allright, I might have taken issue with that if I weren't already 4 beers in on this fictional thanksgiving. But since I am...
I take MR ROGERS! NOW ALL YOUR THANKSGIVING ARE BELONG TO ME!
'Cause we all know who wins the Ultimate Battle for Ultimate (thanksgiving) Destiny!

Holy crap. Yeah, you're absolutely right, you found the one thing that could trump the Norris. Well played Mr. Pike, well played.
I kinda hate you, but well played. :-)
