This Looks Pretty Cool, or it Could be Pretty Lame
I just saw this today, I forgot where I got linked from but it seemed cool enough to post. This is a video previewing "13th Street," an interactive horror movie. I was just thinking that this is the next step in cinema, but wasn't sure how it was going to be executed. Everything is explained in the video, so I'll let you all watch it and make judgments. When I saw it, I thought it was a pretty cool idea and would totally spend the money to go check it out. However, the more I thought about it the more it seemed like a real short video game, which is where it could potentially turn real lame only because we have all played so much Silent Hill. Anyhow, watch and post what you think.
Hopefully you've watched the video before reading this. One improvement I would make would be to have the auto-dialing system call a new person each time a decision must be made. It would take longer, but I think it would make the overall experience more interesting. It looks like "13th Street" hasn't made its way to America yet, but when it does I totally want to check it out.

I fully agree. This is an amazing potential leap forward. Though it will need some serious creative development to help it apply to different films. I will be interested to see what happens to this experience when/if it comes to the U.S.

What exactly do you agree with?

I agree that it would be more like a really short video game, and a tame one when compared to Silent Hill.

Even so, I still think it would be fun to experience. I almost went out and bought Silent Hill several months ago. Which one(s) haven't we played now?

At this point we have played all but Silent Hill: Homcoming on the 360 or PS3, and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories (a remake/re-imagining of the original Silent Hill) for the PS2 and the Wii

Okay, Geoff and I actually started Shattered Memories on Oliver's (his UCD friend) Revolution. It was sadly disappointing and frustrating, but I am still interested in finishing it since we got it started. Is Silent Hill: Homecoming = Silent Hill 5? That's the one with the war vet in search of his brother or something, right?

Yeah, Homecoming is 5. I heard Shattered Memory was pretty lame. No combat doesn't really seem like your style Ninja :-)

Yeah, all you do is fucking RUN from bad guys. I was/am disappointed. Nevertheless, I wanted to give it a try, at least I can say I've played it.

I was thinking about getting Homecoming and playing it on my own. Think that's a wise idea?

Why not? Nothing will top 2 or 4 for the creepy factor, and it is a totally different team than the guys who made the originals. How bad could it be?
